Give Yourself A Moment Of Calm

moment of calmDo you feel a bit stressed lately, perhaps way more than usual? That is understandable, we’re still dealing with a pandemic, and for many people routine activities such as work and school have been seriously interrupted or altered completely. With this extra anxiety, comes a poor quality of a life and even negative impacts on our health. To help manage your stress, you should start by finding ways to give yourself a little moment of calm!

We’re Often Taking on Too Much

Many of us are working from home, while also helping our kids school from home. Others are trying to find new work, taking on extra duties, and doing all of this while still trying to stay safe from a pandemic. Simply put, we’re all taking on too much and this stress could manifest in different ways, including moodiness, lack of motivation, outbursts, difficulty eating (or overeating), headaches, anxiety, and tension and pain in our muscles. If you begin to experience discomfort, anxiety, or other issues, then you should consider making a few changes to your routine!

Anxiety and Our Health

Did you know that stress could impact your overall health as well? You could become more likely to suffer strains to your immune system and cardiovascular system, leaving you vulnerable to illness, high blood pressure, and eventually, even heart attack and stroke. In fact, if you ever notice dizziness, shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, pain in the back, shoulder, or arm, call your doctor right away. A medical professional will be able to see if you need treatment, and in general, could offer ways to help manage your stress and protect your health. Don’t be afraid to talk to a professional about possible coping tools!

Meditation and More

So, what changes could we take to manage our stress? If possible, try to find time to meditate, let yourself clear your mind for just a few minutes. Yoga, tai chu, and deep breathing could also be helpful. You may also benefit from regular cardio workouts, talking with friends or family, or indulging in some of your favorite hobbies, such as reading a book, playing a game, or listening to a favorite album.
