What Does The Delta Variant Mean For Our Community?

dunn mask upIn the last couple of months, the Delta Variant of COVID-19 has been spreading across the country, and started to raise concerns about what we can do to keep ourselves safe. In today’s blog, your friends at Dunn Brothers in Coralville, IA, offer a few tips for staying safe during the continuing pandemic, from masking up to getting your vaccination!

The Delta Variant

As many of us have discovered, a recent variant of SARS-CoV-2 known as the Delta variant has developed. This version is more contagious, almost two times as contagious. For the unvaccinated, the variant is linked to more severe illness, greater levels of hospitalization, and a higher risk of serious complications. For the vaccinated, this version can infect you and be transmitted to others, but for the vaccinated person the illness is much more benign, often compared to a cold and lasting only a few days. The chances of hospitalization are incredibly low too.

Mask Up!

You can still take precautions to keep people safe. For example, our team members will wear masks and gloves, and will maintain a good social distance. If you’re hanging out indoors, you should wear a mask to not only protect yourself, but vulnerable people in our community. You can maintain a good social distance of six feet, and wash your hands frequently. These are very simple actions that could go a long way toward protecting our city! If you feel uncomfortable being in our dining room, remember that we have a drive thru and that you can order online ahead of time to skip the line. We also deliver through apps like Doordash, GrubHub, Chomp, and Seamless.

Get Vaccinated

If you’re vaccinated, then you can protect your smile from serious pain, discomfort, and the risk of hospitalization and death. Which is why you should absolutely look into vaccination, to help protect not only yourself, but your community. Even if the infection breakthrough, your experience will be much less severe than if you remain unvaccinated. You can receive the vaccine at a number of complications across the city. You can find out more information here. Remember, all Iowans ages 12 and older can receive this for FREE!
