Keeping Up Your Spirits When Sheltering In Place

For people working from home, the importance of a routine to stay productive and in good spirits is well known. But due to the continued spread of COVID-19, many people are being urged to shelter in place and limit interactions with other people. Some are working from home for the first time! In today’s blog, we’re going to offer a few tips to adjust to this new normal without losing your productivity, or your mind!

Maintain Good Sleep Habits

For many people, not needing to show up at an office each day means drastic changes for their sleep routine. It starts with sleeping in a little more, and staying up a little later. Soon, your schedule is off the wall and you’re waking up and going to bed at wildly differing times, which actually leads to increased risks of exhaustion and sleep disorders, as well as moodiness. You should continue to go to bed and wake up at the same times each day , as if you’re still needing to go into a physical office somewhere. Holding on to a routine is very beneficial!

Keep a Schedule

Your schedule isn’t just limited to your bedtime. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner should happen at the same times, just as it would during a normal week. Your days won’t seem as long, and you can also find time to schedule other helpful activities. For example, find a nice at-home workout or cardio routine, or go for a walk (just avoid crowds). Staying active is also great for your overall health and mood. You also give yourself little breaks from work, which can help you clear your head and stay productive if you have to work from home.

Get Dressed!

Lounging around in your pajamas may be fun for the first day or two, but after a while, this could lead to issues with productivity. You could have trouble getting into the work mindset if you’re still dressed for relaxing, so be sure to grab an outfit just as you would on a normal day.

Make Time for Fun Treats

When you stock up, don’t just grab essentials. Pick up fun coffees or teas. Remember that our drive through is still open for take-out orders seven days a week, and we also deliver through the DoorDASH, Chomp, and Grubhub apps, so you don’t even have to leave your house! Resist the urge to binge on the treats you pick up, and set aside time for a little break and little treat.
