Tips For A Safe Thanksgiving Celebration

dunn thanksgivingNext week, many people will be heading out of town, or maybe not, to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Since the pandemic is still surging in many states, this means gathering for a celebration could be complicated, and potentially put older family members and the immunocompromised at risk. In today’s blog, we’re offering a few tips to visit with your loved ones and still stay safe!

Limit Your Gatherings

From the beginning, experts at the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have suggested avoiding large indoor gatherings, which make the spread of the disease through droplets in the air much easier. However, even smaller indoor gatherings could increase the risk of illness. Which is why you may be better off sticking with immediate family only, and visiting others through video apps or programs. While it won’t be the same, it protects both you and the people close to you.

Embrace Drive-By Visits and Zoom

If you have older family members, or friends or family who are immunocompromised, you can visit them by driving up to the house and maintaining a distance from their door. You can also talk via Skype, Zoom, Facetime, and other video programs. You may have to get a little creative, but there are ways to maintain a connection and still protect everyone’s health and safety.
